Named after the western wind and a famous train the Zephyrs were the Denver Bears from 1955 to 1984. While in Denver, Joey Meyer hit the longest professional home run ever, officially recorded at 582 feet. When the Rockies came to town, the Zephyrs moved to New Orleans where they would go on to win two championships. Some in New Orleans thought keeping the nickname was odd, perhaps not realizing there was a famous roller coaster of the same name at a local amusement park. In 2017, the became the Baby Cakes,. The relocated to Wichita in 2020.
